Middle Eastern Khanjar Maasai An 1897 Pattern Infantry Officer'sA Khanjar or Jambiya typical of the Marsh Arabs of southern Iraq. Also known as the Madn (Arabic: ), they are inhabitants of the Tigris Euphrates marshlands in the south and east of Iraq and along the Iranian border. The hilt is carved from a single solid piece of horn. During the years 17471831, Iraq was ruled by the Mamluk dynasty of Georgian origin who succeeded in obtaining autonomy from the Ottoman Empire.
