Conspicuous Gallantry Cross Medal Civilian Service Instituted on 14th October 1914The Conspicuous Gallantry Cross was instituted in 1993 as part of the restructuring of the honours system and was designed to remove distinction between ranks. This award replaced the DSO for specific acts of gallantry. It was first awarded in 1995.
