SMOG - Red Apple Falls LP mag Long Gradus is a long-formWhy Smog is so important in the progression of music today. A sad, straight forward, black humoured collection of Bill Callahan's greatest songs. They are obscure, ethereal, thorny, snakelike in their charm, and never cliche. Bill Callahan has more in common with musicians like Gordon Lightfoot, Gary Neuman, and David Bowie. Though he may not sound like them, he resonates their willingness to go beyond. Callahan is a poet.
