refreshingly unrestrained by tradition

recorded in October 1968 at Columbia Studios in Los Angeles

Lou had not been giving much attention to his guitar playing in the several years prior to this

is a strange collage/manipulation/cut-up work featuring samples

tip-toeing plucks and squeals that wouldn’t be out of place in stop motion

Cabaret Voltaire dropped their debut LP in 1979, but they were going for a full six years prior to the release of Mix Up. The 1974 76 compilation collects some of the groups home demos from their formative years.
