もとは、懐中時計を携えるためのウォッチチェーンとして使われていたもの。

花の蜜を吸いながら空中で静止できる、唯一の鳥。

頭を傾け、胸から腰にかけてしなやかなS字を描く美しい身体。腰には短く片結びされたペリゾニウム（腰布）が翻り、その端がわずかに外へと開いています。両足は重ねられ、一本の釘で留められた構図は「Christus patiens（受難のキリスト）」型の典型です。
