This album came together somewhat magically from some new and old pieces of music
The Feelies before this record are not the Feelies that existed after this record
Their live shows were filled with beer
Years in the making – ‘Birth / Work / Death‘ presents calloused anthems and bloody ballads from dusty LPs and long forgotten 45s
indicated first on the harsh and angular Wolf’s Lair Abyss (1997) EP and foremost on the enterprisingly brutal and revolutionary Grand Declaration of War (2000)
LADY BLACKBIRD - Black Acid Soul LP heavy This album came together somewhatOne of the best debuts of 2021, Black Acid Soul was the curtain raiser for Los Angeles based musician Marley Monroe, who records as Lady Blackbird. Rooted in jazz and centred around Monroes expressive vocals with minimal accompaniments of bass, guitar, piano and percussion, its an aural delight that transcends the time in which it was recorded. A spectral take on Tim Hardins Itll Never Happen Again is a real highlight.
