The original St George reels were produced in Alnwick from 1911 until 1983

with both Tom Maxwell and Tom Dorsey's handcraft evident (I may have also been there when this rod was made)

I personally like these for salmon fishing as the light weight and good drag work well with the small salmon rods I like to use on the Gaspe and in Nova Scotia

Quarter bound in brown leather over light brown cloth, gilt title and decoration with a silk marker ribbon. Cloth slipcase. Very slight wear to the slipcase in a few areas but excellent condition overall. An early and influential book on early dry fly patterns and tips for fishing them.
