A comprehensive bariatric blood panel, as recommended by BOMSS, usually includes: Full blood count (FBC) to assess for anaemia Serum ferritin and iron studies Vitamin B12 and folate levels Vitamin D (25-hydroxyvitamin D) and parathyroid hormone (PTH) Calcium, phosphate, and magnesium Zinc and selenium Copper particularly in patients with symptoms or poor dietary intake, or where deficiency is clinically suspected Liver function tests Thyroid function tests if clinically indicated Vitamin A in symptomatic patients or those at increased risk Bone health is another important long-term consideration
