) To my eye just a stunner of a piece--and a wonderful play on the form of a weedpot

I also love it for the use of the now fairly achaic use of the word "sport"--here meaning diversion/fun

I'm always on the hunt for early handwritten rewards of merit, but never imagined such a charmer as this. And its small scale makes it seem especially miraculous for it to have survived 200 years; one thinks this speller was very proud of himself! 3 1 4" x 1 1 2". Ink on wove. Surely some fading to the ink and general toning to the paper, but in good
