and it seems to me likely the creation of a folk carver in a cabin somewhere in the Adirondacks in the 1920s or 30s or so

I believe the cover with embossed pattern was once maroon but now it appears dark gray

Definitely mid-century and Italian I believe (the white glazed bottom is common to Bitossi)

The box shows some wear and tape on the sides but is structurally in great shape

Some wear and paint loss as evident
