Very Lovable Naive Dog Painting on Hanging Plate handmade box with mirror I’ve never had a whole

I’ve never had a whole lot of interest in glass

Just a charming little vintage trinket box made of paper mache in the shape of a turtle and lacquered in gold and black

and cornflower blue

This is the smaller of two old concrete sculpture fragments I found together in Maine

with a bit of cloudiness to the black lacquer on the front of the box and a little bit of cracking to the lacquer on the underside of the box near the bottom edge

Very Lovable Naive Dog Painting on Hanging Plate handmade box with mirror I’ve never had a wholeOh, this sweet fluffy creature, a little homely perhaps but more lovable for it, and with this great wagging pink tongue hanging out. Late 19th century or so I believe, painted on a plate (I thought was wood but now am thinking is likely hard paper mache) with a hanger on the back, and with the crackling to the black painted background around his head reading a bit like a halo of static electricity! Better in person and completely empathy inducing.
