pissarro oise near pontoise Dimensions (inches):27 x 32" Pissarro returns to his rootsThis painting reveals Pissarro's taste (almost fanaticism) for countryside and rural settings. He himself was totally opposed to the integration of the masses into industrial work. That's why it highlights the contrast of the chimney in the background, with the peaceful lifestyle shown by the two passersby and the horse rider.
