The wood here is unfinished and I am not entirely sure what type of wood it is

The box features the original oak stain and mark on the front reading  "Patented 1889

This is the work of Vaclav Vytlacil (1892-1984)

Cast Iron River Boat Paperweight carved lion sculpture The wood here is unfinishedJust a sweet old cast iron steamboat or riverboat, very heavy for its size so great as a paperweight, but also just set somewhere. It sits fine upright, though leans a little to one side. It is possible the surface of this piece was once painted, but the paint is long gone if so. It definitely fairly old but I haven't found its match, and don't know much about it. A pretty great little object though for sure! 2 3 4" long x 1 1 2" tall x 3 4" deep.
