Beautiful Large Wooden Spinning Top toy soldier skittles Japan folding knife

Japan folding knife

circa 1930s-50s

it is mid-century in style and was purchased from an estate sale that included a great collection of mid to late 20th century ceramics and studio pottery from Japan

I think it looks especially terrific filled with a couple of small flowering or berry branches

the  exterior sides still show some of its original naturally dyed bright pink color--which is intensely vivid around the lip

Beautiful Large Wooden Spinning Top toy soldier skittles Japan folding knifeI believe there was once a separate winder with string used to set this top spinning, but it's such a beautiful object I would just set it on the shelf or desk now to admire. I believe the wood is likely walnut, with a steel spinning tip at the end and an inset lighter wood handle. So pretty. 5 7 8" l x 3 3 8" in diameter. Definitely once used, with surface scratches and little dings to the wood all over, all to the good I think.
