is in fact packed in pretty tightly and not really threatening to come apart

The unfinished wood is very light in weight

is signed JD at bottom right

but the painting is just 4 1/2" x 4"

I believe the lid was likely to a paint can it's about that size and of course I love a painting made on whatever happens to be sitting around. A close up view reveals the boaters to be Native American, wearing feathered headdresses, and on the left shore bank, though fairly dark, are a pair of teepees with tall trees behind
