I am not certain of the artist as the only mark on the bottom is "1642 Italy" and I have not found its match

with tons of diagrams for what one might create

3 1/2" x 5 1/2" and in very good condition

clean tear coming in from right edge near his hand

Sweet Little Carved Wooden Bird with Blue-Gray Paint (No Legs) clipper ships I am not certain ofJust a sweet little bird to perch somewhere, which is does just fine despite (or maybe better because of) having lost its legs. I might guess German, but don't know for certain; I really like the form and disposition of it, looking gentle and curious, with tiny carved circles for the eyes and a pointy little pale yellow beak. A perfect shade of light gray with a bit of blue in it, making it almost baby blue, which is lost here and there, more on one
